Who is Muslims’ role model?

Have you ever wondered why Allah SWT revealed the stories of the previous prophets? These stories were not
shared merely to provide historical information but to teach important lessons and guide
believers in their faith. For instance, the verses about Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him)
focus on his continued struggle to promote monotheism and belief in the One True God,
against the false practices of his people.

In this article we will discuss one of the greatest figures in history, known as the “Father of the Prophets.” His life is filled with lessons of devotion, sacrifice, and perseverance. CAN YOU GUESS WHO HE IS?

Islam encourages us to look up to the prophets because they are the best
examples of good behavior, strong faith, and love for Allah.
One of the greatest prophets is Ibrahim (peace be upon him), known for his deep belief
in Allah. This essay will explain why Prophet Ibrahim PBUH is a role model for us by
focusing on important moments in his life, such as his message of
monotheism, his trial with the fire, his readiness to sacrifice his son, and his
role in building the Kaaba.

In the ancient land of Babylonia (modern-day Iraq), a boy named Ibrahim (peace
be upon him) was born to carry forward the message of pure monotheism. His
people worshipped idols they had fashioned with their own hands. Yet, Ibrahim
was different, guided by divine wisdom even from a young age. Allah SWT says in
Surah Al-Anbiya (21:51), ۞ وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ رُشْدَهُ مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا بِهِ عَالِمِينَ (51)) “And most surely, we brought Abraham his prudence before, and we well knew of him.”

Prophet Ibrahim’s first call to his father
One of the most prominent moments in human history was Prophet Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) unwavering dedication to preaching the oneness of Allah and his rejection of idol worship.
His first call was to his father, Azar, who used to make and worship idols. Gently, Ibrahim addressed him: (إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ يَا أَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لَا يَسْمَعُ وَلَا يُبْصِرُ وَلَا يُغْنِي عَنكَ شَيْئًا) “O my father, why do you worship that which does not hearand does not see and will not benefit you at all?” (Surah Maryam: 42)

Ibrahim turned to his people After calling his father.
He confronted his idolatrous people by destroying their false idols to demonstrate that these idols could not protect themselves, let alone their worshipers, and questioned the value of worshipping idols that neither hear, see, nor assist.
Despite his logical arguments, they refused to listen and threw him into a great fire. Allah revealed their hostility in the Qur’an: (فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلَّا أَن قَالُوا اقْتُلُوهُ أَوْ حَرِّقُوهُ فَأَنجَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُون) (24) “The onlyanswer of his [Abraham’s] tribe was to say: ‘Kill him or burn him!’ But Allahrescued him from the fire. There are certainly signs in that for people whobelieve.” (Surah Al Ankabut: 24)

Test of faith
Another profound moment in Ibrahim’s life was his willingness to sacrifice hisson, Ismail (peace be upon him). This test of faith, where he was asked to give upwhat was most dear to him, demonstrated his absolute submission to Allah’s will.Ibrahim put a knife to his son’s neck after years of longing for a child. Yet, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram, praising Ibrahim for his devotion and rewarding him for his faith and submission. Faith means worshiping Allah without question or debate, acknowledging Him as the Creator, not as a creation like oneself. Otherwise, how could He be the Creator if treated as a creation?

The building of the Kaaba in Makkah
One of the greatest contributions of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be uponhim) was the building of the Kaaba in Makkah. Allah commanded him and his son Ismail (peace be upon them) to raise the foundation of the Kaaba, a sacred house for the worship of Allah. Together, they built the Kaaba and prayed, (رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ) “Our Lord, accept this from us.”(Surah Al-Baqara: 127)

Calling people to Hajj
After completing the Kaaba, Ibrahim was commanded
to proclaim Hajj, calling people to visit this holy Kaaba.
The Kaaba remains a central focus for all Muslims
worldwide, serving as the qibla (direction of prayer)
and the heart of the pilgrimage

From Prophet Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) life, we
derive important moral and spiritual lessons:

His trust in Allah

Patience in adversity

Devotion to the truth

Are timeless examples. Whether we are tested in our faith, face opposition, or are asked to make sacrifices, Ibrahim’s life teaches us how to remain steadfast, patient, and reliant on Allah.

Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) is a role model for all believers.
His trialsand triumphs, from spreading monotheism, enduring the fire, and building the Kaaba, exemplify his devotion and unwavering faith in Allah. His legacy continues to inspire Muslims to trust in Allah and live righteous lives
